Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy, 30 years old, is currently visually impaired, only able to distinguish between light and dark. In her family, both Thuy and her sibling were born with vision impairment due to congenital. Currently, she is working at the massage studio run by the National Training and Rehab Center for the Vietnamese Blind (NTRC). She has more than 2 years of experience in the profession. Attending our co-host training course between Omamori Spa and the NTRC in December 2024, Thuy expectation is to learn new techniques to meet the need of cliients and improve her income.
Currently, she is earning 60,000 VND per hour. In addition, the average tip per day is about 50,000 VND. The center also supports her with 500,000 VND for food each month and provides free accommodation.
At the studio, Thuy shared that there are few customers request misconducted massages, about 1/50 customers. When encountering this situation, she will show a clear attitude so that the customer understands that she only works professionally, does not accept inappropriate behavior.
Thuy said that she does not care about delivering massage at home for clients. In her opinion, her vision impairment hinders her capability to move around, including booking a ride on platform and guidance after arrival. In addition, as she does know about massage techniques on mattress, the working conditions at home is inconvenient and not suitable for her. However, if the home massage demand can ensure a stable and safe income, she is willing to consider it further.
